Adil, a 35-year-old Kyrgyz man with the mental development of an 8-year-old, lives in a small village in Kyrgyzstan with Rayhan, his 75-year-old mother. Rayhan has always told Adil that God loves him in a special way and that he will go straight to Paradise. However, Adil does not want to go to Paradise without his mother. One day he learns from his 8-year-old best friend that if he takes his mother on foot to the Holy City of Mecca for Hajj, she will also go to Paradise.
