Based on the true story of Malaysia’s SEA Games 2017 winners in Cricket, Gemencheh Boys revolves around six boys, Shafiq, Amin, Fauzi, Rashid, Azad, and Shukri who the locals dubbed as “Enam Jahannam” because they’re always up to no good. In fact, some felt that the boys had nothing to aspire to and that there was no promising future for them, until they met Mr. Azman. With great dedication as an teacher, Mr. Azman tried to guide the six of them by starting a cricket training program even though he himself had no prior knowledge of the sport. Every day after school hours, Mr. Azman will look for the boys around the Gemencheh village and bust Syafiq’s mischievous activities with his friends such as bathing in the river, catching spiders, and flying kites. The closer Mr. Azman gets to the boys, the more he recognizes the hidden talent in them. Mr. Azman trains them to compete, but no one believes that these village boys had the potential to become great athletes and change their lives.
